The book I read was The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. This book takes place in a fantasy world called Shire that Tolkien created. This world relates to the Earth’s middle ages and is filled with many unordinary races and creatures. There are hobbits, wargs, trolls, goblins, dwarves, elves, and humans. The main character is a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. He, like most other hobbits enjoyed a relaxed and quiet life, but this all changed when he was persuaded by a wizard named Gandalf, to join a group of dwarves on an adventure to steel back the gold a dragon named Smaug stole from their ruler Thror. Thror’s grandson, Thorin lead the group because he was to inherit the gold that the dragon stole. Bilbo was the key to the group’s success. He saved the group on many occasions and helped the group stick together when they needed to most. He did this by using his inner strength. He had to make up for Thorin’s lack of leadership and ability to come up with good plans. Bilbo was no longer the average hobbit but he didn’t let this get to his head and he stayed true to himself. Bilbo was a very valuable group member and without him they would have never succeeded.
